Forbidden Pages: Holi Celebration

$150.00

This print marks the beginning of the Forbidden Pages Collection, born from initial experiments with block printing and my first reduction print during the MASS MoCA Home and Away program with Oolite Arts. Inspired by the more than 2,500 banned or challenged books in Florida's schools, this piece celebrates the vibrant and joyful Indian festival of Holi.

The lush picture book titled Festival of Colors by bestselling mother-son duo Surishtha Sehgal and Kabir Sehgal tells the story of siblings Mintoo and Chintoo, who gather flowers to create colorful powders for the celebration. On the day of the festival, they join friends, family, and neighbors in a lively gathering filled with fresh starts, friendship, forgiveness, and fun.
